What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry is a system through which members of the St. Rose Parish are trained and organized to help provide CONFIDENTIAL Christian Caregiving to members of our parish and community. This multiplies the amount of caring ministry that St. Rose can provide by giving us a whole team of skilled care givers who are equipped to bring Christ’s healing love to people who are faced with a crisis or experiencing other stresses in their life.

Please click on the link to the official Stephen Ministry web page to see a few short testimonial video clips.

Who Benefits from Stephen Ministry?

Everybody benefits from Stephen Ministry. Those receiving care benefit because they receive prayer and support throughout the crisis that they face. Stephen Ministers benefit through the spiritual growth they experience from being involved in a meaningful, caring ministry. Our parish pastoral staff benefits because the caring ministry at St. Rose is expanded and more people can receive care. Most of all, you benefit from the knowledge that special care is available to you should you need it. You also have a place where you can refer a friend, neighbor, coworker, relative, or anyone else that you know who is going through a difficult time so they can receive the special care when they need it the most. Stephen Ministry makes St. Rose an even more caring place.

Who are Stephen Ministers?

Stephen Ministers are members of the St. Rose parish who have gone through 50 hours of training to provide high quality Christian care to individuals experiencing a life crisis or challenge such as grief, divorce, loss of a job, hospitalization, relocation, or loneliness. Stephen Ministers are commissioned by the pastor to serve our community. Stephen Ministers are each assigned a care receiver and meet that care receiver regularly during the crisis.

Who are Stephen Leaders?

Stephen Leaders are members of the St. Rose parish who have attended a week-long training session provided by Stephen Ministries of Saint Louis. They too are commissioned by the pastor and share the responsibility for the overall leadership of the Stephen Ministry here at St Rose. There are currently eight Stephen Leaders: Ken McLeod – Team Coordinator, Patti Brown & Pat Ferreira – Referral Coordinators, Diann Muzyka – Training, Brad Livengood and Barb McLeod – Peer Supervision, Barb Buck – Continuing Education and Mickey Wood – Awareness Building.

If you are dealing with a life crisis or would like to help someone who is, please consider Stephen Ministry.

Call the parish office at 623-465-9740 x153 and leave a message for the Stephen Leader Referral Coordinators Patti Brown and Pat Ferreira. In order to maintain confidentiality the voice mailbox is ONLY accessed by Pat and Patti.
