The Sacrament of Baptism: Age 7 & Older

Sally SchaubleDirector of Religious Education

The Sacrament of Baptism is the initial sacrament of faith and through the waters of Baptism we enter a new life, the life of the spirit.

Infant baptism is to celebrate faith already transforming the lives of the parents and of the community - a faith that will be shared, by word and example. With the newly baptized infants as they grow into responsible young adulthood.

Once a child has reached the age of 7, also considered to be the "age of reason," a preparation process is offered before celebrating the sacrament. The age of reason is a name given to that period of human life at which persons are deemed to begin to be morally responsible.

In the baptism of children, parents are taking the responsibility of the faith formation of their child/children. Age appropriate preparation is offered for all children ages 7-17. Please contact Sally Schauble, the Director of Religious Education for additional information.
