Good Jesus, give me a deep love for Thee, that nothing may be too hard for me to bear from Thee.

Earth Angels Frequently Asked Questions

Earth Angels Coordinators
602-885-5598
How does Earth Angels work?
At Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne Parish, Earth Angels is managed by coordinators that help to match requests for help with requests for service opportunities. These volunteers also collect and share examples of acts of kindness to inspire and provide ideas for others. They are also “walking the talk,” completing acts of kindness just like you!
What does it take to become an Earth Angel?
Anyone can (and should) practice acts of kindness anytime, anywhere. For those who would like to take part in the St. Rose Earth Angels ministry, there are 4 simple steps to become a St. Rose Earth Angel:
  1. Complete the Earth Angels volunteer form. This helps our coordinators to match service needs with your interest, abilities and availability.
  2. Complete a Diocese Safe Environment Training class. This three-hour educational session is required by the Catholic Diocese of Phoenix of all volunteers, employees and clergy, 18 years or older. Refer to the Safe Environment training schedule to register now for a date and location convenient for you.
  3. Follow through on your act(s) of kindness!
  4. Take 5 minutes to provide feedback about your act of kindness. Earth Angels coordinators may use this as an example to encourage others within the parish to do the same! Your act of kindness will be profiled, but your name will not be shared, as the focus of Earth Angels is to do good for good’s sake, not for recognition. Rest assured that God knows the great work that you’re doing, so keep it up!
How do I contact Earth Angels?
Need help? Simply complete the Earth Angels Request Help form, or contact us by email or phone. Please understand that there is no guarantee that your request can be met by Earth Angels. Acts of kindness are based on availability and capability of volunteers and the scope of this ministry. However, an Earth Angels coordinator will respond to all requests (if correct contact information is provided) to let you know if we can help and if not, what other resources may be available to meet your need.

Report an Act of Kindness that you completed, received or witnessed so that it may be shared with the St. Rose community. You may also report Acts of Kindness by email or phone, (623) 465-9740 ext. 151. Please leave a message; an Earth Angels coordinator will return your call.

Note for those sharing stories by email or phone:

  • If you benefited from an Act of Kindness and would like to share the story about how you or someone you know was helped, you may choose to share your name or remain anonymous.
  • If you are an Earth Angel or a member of St. Rose or Mission of the Good Shepherd that committed an act of kindness, please explain how you helped and how it made you feel. If your story is shared, your name will not be included. Recognition is focused on the acts of kindness themselves, not the individuals performing them.

Examples of Kindness

How to Share Simple Acts of Kindness
Anyone—whether they belong to the St. Rose community or not—is able to share acts of kindness by taking 5 minutes to complete an Act of Kindness reporting form. By sharing our experiences—giving and receiving kindness—we can inspire more people to be kind, more often. Stories will also be shared in the Sunday bulletin as space allows.
No act of kindness is too big or too small!
Examples of acts of kindness may include but are not limited to:
  • Deliver meals or run errands for someone who is ill or recovering from surgery/illness
  • Help an elderly or ailing neighbor with their yard work.
  • Offer to carry or unload groceries
  • Welcome a new neighbor with a list of helpful numbers—including yours.
  • Pick up a stranger’s paper from the end of their driveway and place it on their doorstep.
  • Be kind to the environment…pick up trash.
  • Help a new mom—or a worn-out mom with chores or errands.
  • Mail a gift card for groceries to a family in need, without a return address.
  • Walk a dog or drop off dinner for someone recovering from illness or injury
  • Pay a bill for someone coping with unemployment.
  • Order a magazine subscription for a person or child interested in a particular hobby…anonymously.
  • Deliver gifts for birthdays/holidays to families that may not otherwise afford the joy of gift-giving.
  • Leave flowers and a kind note for someone that might need cheering up. Instead of signing it, write “I hope this brightens your day! Please do something nice for someone else when you can.”
