Capital Campaign

Deacon Bill ClowerPastoral Associate

Throughout 2007, 2008, and 2009, St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Parish conducted a Capital Campaign to collect pledges and payments from Parishioners to raise money needed to build a multi-purpose building. For a couple of years before and during most of that time, the Parish worshipped in a grade school gym located in the community of Anthem. The Parishioners deeply wanted their own Church building. They responded generously to the Capital Campaign.

Diocesan policy stated that the Parish was required to have 60% of the over three million dollars of construction costs on deposit, before the Diocese could loan the additional 40%, and construction could begin. Through the dedicated efforts of individuals and the Parish community, the Parish was ultimately able to raise nearly 65% of the construction costs, despite a dramatic down turn in the economy. The Parish moved from the gym to the new multi-purpose Spirituality Center in August of 2009.

Because many families' finances were negatively impacted by the bad economy, the Capital Campaign pledge making and redemption period was extended to include 2010 and 2011. To help retire the nearly one million dollars still owed to the Diocese for the Spirituality Center, as well as the Diocesan loans on the Rectory, Parish Administrative Building and land, the Parish conducts a second collection on the third Sunday of every month.

Currently, Parish committees are exploring methods of accelerating the retirement of existing debt, while planning for the next building to be built, and the requisite Capital Campaign.
